Victorina was very young when she left her beautiful hometown of Zachetas, Mexico, leaving her eleven siblings and parents behind to help them have a better life back home.

In the United States, her first job was as a nanny. After nannying, she picked up jobs at a restaurant and a toy factory, both of which required long hours and intensive labour. During her first few few years in the US, Victorina remembers feeling lonely and sad. These feelings of isolation were compounded by having no one to talk to, because she had no friends or family living in the US with her.

Overcoming her sadness was a challenge, but Victorina soon realized that though her life would be difficult, it would not be impossible. She was determined to continue working towards her goal of a successful and happy life in the US. Once she was able to move past her sadness and get a clear vision of what it was going to take to move forward, she was able to find happiness in the US. he met a man, who is now the father of her four children and she is very proud of the life she has been able to provide for them. She is proud to say that all of her children have received an education and that one of her daughters just graduated from college. Seeing how hard her children worked in school inspired Victorina to start the process of becoming a U.S. citizen.

Victorina is very appreciative of the support NCICC provided in helping her to become a citizen, and she is especially thankful to the tutors that helped her prepare for the USCIS interview. Now that she is a U.S. citizen she feels free, protected and relieved that she is part of this country. She is very excited to be able to vote in the upcoming elections.
