The Pathways Volunteer Attorney Program is open to licensed attorneys who want to support our legal team by representing documented low-income immigrant and refugee clients. No immigration law training or experience is necessary. Pathways provide training and mentorship to volunteer attorneys in this program.

If you are NOT a licensed attorney, you will not be considered for this program.

The Pathways Clerkship Program is open to dedicated and driven law students. This program offers a chance to witness the intricacies of immigration law, advocate for vulnerable populations, and learn about the cultural and legal challenges an immigrant must navigate to succeed in America.

I hereby authorize Pathways to Citizenship to use my photo and/or information related to my experience with Pathways to Citizenship.
I understand this information may be used in publications, including electronic publications via social media, audiovisual presentations, promotional literature, advertising and community presentations.

My consent is freely given as a public service to Pathways to Citizenship, without expecting payment. I release Pathways to Citizenship and their employees from any and all liability which may arise from the use of news media stories, promotional materials, written articles, video and/or photographs.

VOLUNTEER AGREEMENT

Volunteer Code of Conduct
The Volunteer Code of Conduct is a set of rules and guidelines intended to create a safe, respectful, and effective service environment for our clients, students, and volunteers. Volunteers are required to agree to and follow the Volunteer Code of Conduct.

I will:
• Support the mission of Pathways which is to help qualified immigrants navigate the complex
legal and cultural pathways to citizenship.
• Participate in the Pathways’ Volunteer training.
• Follow through with my volunteer time commitment, be regular and consistent with my
attendance, and arrive at sessions on time.
• Contact the Volunteer Coordinator as soon as possible if I am unable to follow through with my
volunteer time commitment.
• Give my student(s) and clients my full attention during sessions and provide honest and
constructive feedback.
• Leave judgments behind and keep an open mind regarding each student/client and his/her family,
culture, beliefs, values, and priorities. During a virtual session (adult volunteers only), I may see
into a client’s home and personal life. I will respect his/her privacy and refrain from making
judgmental comments and giving unsolicited advice.
• Complete evaluations as required by the Volunteer Coordinator.
• Contact the Volunteer Coordinator with questions or concerns.

I will not:
• Use sexist, racist, homophobic, prejudicial, or vulgar language.
• Attempt to convince or convert students/clients to religions, political beliefs, or personal values.
• Engage in harassment of students, clients, other volunteers, or staff, which includes all forms of
sexual relations.
• Engage in conduct endangering the life, safety, or well-being of others.
• Socialize with students/clients outside of Pathways to Citizenship or Pathways-sponsored
activities, including texting, calling, video-chatting, or meeting in-person outside of appointments
without consulting the Volunteer Coordinator.
• Take photographs, screenshots during video calls and/or video or audio recordings during in-
person and/or virtual sessions without explicit permission from the Volunteer Coordinator and the
student/client(s).
• Use Pathways to Citizenship’s facilities, computers or other resources for my personal use or benefit.
• Come to the volunteer site or virtual session under the influence of alcohol or illegal chemical
substances.
• Share my personal information (phone number, email, or address) with my students/clients
without the Volunteer Coordinator’s permission and guidance.
• Use personal information of students, clients, or other volunteers for any purpose other than
instruction or the agreed-to legal services, nor share such information with others without the
Volunteer Coordinator’s permission and guidance.
• Conduct tutoring sessions or legal services in a private residence, except those conducted via
telephone or video conference by volunteers aged 18 or over.
• Transport students in my personal vehicle and/or accept a ride from a student.
• Give and/or accept gifts from students/clients, beyond small tokens such as food, candy or
greeting cards.

If you are uncomfortable with these guidelines for any reason, please speak with a staff member. If you have any concerns about your relationship with your student/client, contact Pathways immediately.

I have read, understand, and agree to follow Pathway to Citizenship’s Volunteer Code of Conduct. I understand that violating this code may result in my dismissal from volunteering with Pathways.
